About unberry

An open jar of grainy body scrub, a natural loofah and a plain white jar of lotion on a pale stone shelf

Our story

It started with a frustration

unberry began with one person's skin. Rough little bumps on the arms and legs, the kind people call strawberry skin, and a shelf of products that did not help.

It took a while to see why. A scrub polishes the top of a bump. A regular lotion moisturizes over it. Both can feel good on the day. Neither reaches what makes the bump in the first place.

Those products were working on the surface. The problem sits just under it. That sentence is the whole reason this brand exists.

What is actually going on

Strawberry skin usually comes from keratin, a natural protein, and dead skin cells building up at the opening of hair follicles. The buildup forms a small, hard plug. You feel it as a bump and often see it as a dot.

Once you know that, the way most products fail makes sense. Rubbing harder irritates the skin without loosening the plug. Adding moisture softens the skin around it and leaves it in place.

If you want the long version, read our guide to strawberry skin, or the three signs to check when you wonder about strawberry legs or keratosis pilaris.

The cream

One cream, and a job for every ingredient

We did not want a routine of five bottles. We wanted one step you could keep up after a shower, built around the problem instead of the surface. It is fragrance-free, paraben-free and vegan, and it absorbs in about 30 seconds.

  • 7% glycolic acid gently exfoliates the surface and smooths rough texture
  • 2% salicylic acid exfoliates inside pores to help unclog them
  • 1% lactic acid exfoliates gently while boosting hydration
  • 2% urea softens rough, dry patches and helps hold in moisture
  • 2% niacinamide supports the skin barrier and evens the look of skin tone

What it is not

It is a cosmetic, not a medical treatment. It will not change your skin overnight: skin usually feels softer within the first days, and bumps need a few weeks of daily use to look smoother.

If your skin is painful, very red or itchy, a dermatologist is the right next step, not a cream.

How we work

We are a small team based in Montréal. Orders ship from Montréal to Canada and the United States, with free shipping.

The cream is produced for us by a cosmetics manufacturer that holds the certifications required to sell it in the United States.

A few rules we hold ourselves to:

  1. No invented proof. No made-up reviews, ratings or experts. When real customers review the cream, you will see their words, good or bad.
  2. No medical promises. We say what a cosmetic can do, and where its limits are.
  3. Sources you can check. Our articles link to the dermatology references they rely on. How we write explains the process.
  4. Thirty days to change your mind. If the cream is not for you, our refund policy explains how to get your money back.
